She is from Seoul, South Korea, and is the daughter of Mr. Paik, who (largely unbeknownst to her) is a ruthless and feared man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, including corrupting her husband in the process. Feeling that Jin had changed from the gentle lover she once knew, she planned an escape to America, and started taking English lessons from a Harvard-educated Korean man she had once been set up with, Jae Lee.
